Atrium Ljungberg conducts large letting to Menigo in Slakthusområdet
Menigo is one of Sweden's leading distributors of food, beverages, consumables and restaurant equipment for private and public organisations. A few years ago, Menigo purchased Restaurangakademien, a gastronomic training centre and meeting place that is currently located in Slakthusområdet. Both businesses are now moving in under the same roof in the new extension to Hus 43 Gamla & Nya Magasinet.
– We’re really looking forward to moving into newly built premises in Slakthusområdet. The area has a strong historical link to food and gastronomy - a clear identity that is now being taken to the next level through a new, modern approach. The fact that the area is also close to Stockholm’s restaurant scene has also been decisive in the choice of location for our new headquarters. For us, it feels right to gather our employees in this setting, says Jonas Köhler, CEO at Menigo.
The premises will house not only the head office but also a training kitchen and showroom, and it will be possible to offer wine tastings and other types of events. To support the gastronomical development in Sweden, Menigo collaborates with a number of actors, including Årets Kock (Chef of the Year) and Bocuse d’Or. Bocuse d’Or currently has an experimental kitchen in Slakthusområdet, which will also move into the new building.
“I am very pleased that we are able to be part of and enable Menigo’s and Restaurangakademien’s future in Slakthusområdet. We gain with this lease a business that further strengthens city life and the area’s focus on food and drink. As more workplaces are established, Slakthusområdet will become an even more vibrant city district during the day as well, which supplements the restaurant and culture destination that is now emerging here,” says Petter Klingofström, Leasing Manager at Atrium Ljungberg.
The lease contract with Menigo also entails the start of the project for Hus 43 Gamla & Nya Magasinet, which will undergo a reconstruction and an extension. The old warehouse from the 1930s will be opened up with glassed-in gables. Parts of the original building’s façade and roof will be dismantled, and a new building will be added. The property sits right next to the future entrance to an underground station and the new large park that is planned for the area.
Hus 43 Gamla & Nya Magasinet has a total letting area of approximately 8,500 m2 NRA with an annual rental value of just over SEK 40 million excluding surcharges. The total investment for the reconstruction and extension of the property amounts to SEK 700 million. Savills has acted as an advisor on behalf of Menigo during the rental process.
